BOTANICAL RECORD
Artocarpus camansi Blanco
Breadnut · Châtaignier-pays · Moraceae
At Odo Valley
Track the first camansi harvests
Hypothesis
- JB has confirmed the identity. Now record flowering and harvest dates, whole-fruit mass, clean seed mass and dehulled seed mass. Photograph leaves, attached fruit, cut fruit and seeds beside a ruler. Also record planting material provenance and local names. These observations will establish this tree’s actual production.

Odo Valley notes
One Artocarpus camansi planted at Odo Valley, separate from the Artocarpus altilis breadfruit tree. On 26 September 2026, JB explicitly confirms this identification after comparing the species. He reports approximately 3–4 years, over 10 m and the beginning of production. Age and height are estimates; planting material provenance, exact planting date, position and yield remain to be recorded.
Field observations
Artocarpus camansi: 3–4 years, over 10 m, beginning to produce
- Known date or period
- 26 September 2026 — report
- Date precision

- Location
- Odo Valley · Busua · Ghana
- Observer
- JB
- Measurements and units
- Count: 1; estimated age: 3–4 years; estimated height: >10 m.
- JB reports the beginning of production and explicitly confirms Artocarpus camansi after comparing the species. This individual remains separate from his Artocarpus altilis breadfruit tree. Quantity, harvest calendar and seed characteristics are not yet recorded. Confirmation of identity does not turn age and height estimates into measurements.
